Announcement of the Joan Faoagali Award recipient

The Dr Joan Faoagali award aims to: Recognise the significant and valuable contribution Joan made to infection prevention and control professionals and especially members of the ACIPC and encourage infection prevention and control practitioners to engage in ongoing learning through the ACIPC Foundations of Infection Prevention and Control course. The winner of the Dr. Joan Faoagali Award received $1000 towards Foundations of Infection Prevention and Control course fees 

Announcement of the Cardinal Health Infection Control Scholarship Winners

The Cardinal Health 2020 Infection Control Scholarship has been designed to encourage Australian and New Zealand infection control practitioners to share their successes and innovations and to gain support for further work in these areas. The scholarship is to support critical infection control projects to enhance patient safety and assist best practice procedures and work place outcomes.  

With support from ACIPC, the Cardinal Health Infection Control Scholarship has been designed to encourage Australian and New Zealand healthcare professionals with an interest in infection control, to share their successes and innovations in infection control and receive support for further work in this area. The scholarship is to support critical infection control projects to ultimately enhance patient safety and assist best practice procedures and work place outcomes. The annual scholarship was established in 2006 and 322 applications have been received and 91 projects funded. A total of A$530,000 has been awarded to date (between A$550-A$15,000 per project) to projects in healthcare associated infection surveillance and management along with support areas including clinical governance, research, training, poster/paper presentations at conferences and post graduate education in the infection control space.

Presentation of the Claire Boardman Award

The Claire Boardman CICP Medal for Leadership in Infection Prevention and Control is the highest honour of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control in recognition of the College’s Inaugural President, Ms Claire Boardman,  and her leadership in establishing the College.

It is bestowed upon a member of the College who demonstrates outstanding commitment to, the leadership of, the profession and practice of infection prevention and control, and to the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control. The award is biennial and offered in perpetuity from 2014, and includes; The Claire Boardman CICP Medal for Leadership in Infection Prevention and Control, Entry onto the Claire Boardman CICP Medal for Leadership in Infection Prevention and Control Memorial Trophy; and $1000 prize money.

Formal proceedings will be followed by half an hour of speed networking with fellow attendees!
