Background
Infection prevention and control requirements in healthcare facilities create millions of tonnes of waste for disposal each year. Can healthcare be more environmentally sustainable to respond to consumer and healthcare expectations to reduce waste while still maintaining patient safety?
Method
This presentation will share ideas for how dental practices in particular can harness purpose driven values in teams to reduce waste and optimise infection prevention and control resources while maintaining patient safety.
Results
Adopting a sustainability mindset provides an opportunity to objectively review the status quo and be open to new ideas to be more strategic to do more with less finite resources while still maintaining patient safety.
