Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices is a key component of the NSQHS Standard 3, however it can be a minefield for most of us. Have you ever been in a situation with AS/NZS 4187:2014 which made you doubt what you know and unsure of your next steps and actions? In November 2018, a routine water test gave a positive result which required significant advice and input, ultimately resulting in a CSSD shutdown. This concerning situation became a challenge for key stakeholder engagement, managing a reputational risk and a timely reminder to focus on the safest best practice for good patient outcomes.
