Standards, Policy and Clinical Governance

Luci Rodda1

1Aegis Aged Care, Burswood, Western Australia, luci.rodda@aegiscare.com.au

This workshop presentation aims to discuss how the changing climate of aged care in Australia is influencing aged care providers’ approach to safety and quality care delivery, within the scope of infection prevention and control (IPC).

The intention is to open up discussions on solutions to the IPC challenges at both organisational and direct-care levels. These include identifying infection risks and management strategies, discerning influences on IPC policy and procedure, as well as understanding how quality and safety underpin successful IPC programs in aged care.

Often a topic that can make people want to run a mile, this session works to break down the practice of building IPC into a governance framework, in an exploratory, informative and interactive way.
