Environmental surface disinfection; exploring the minefield

Environmental surface contamination has been increasingly recognised as an important contribution to the transmission of pathogens in healthcare. Our understanding of optimal cleaning and disinfection has improved considerably over the last decade, however, there remains a number of unanswered questions relating to environmental surface disinfection and its’ optimal implementation within healthcare.

This session will provide an update in relation to environmental surface disinfection, summarising our current understanding as well as highlighting some of our knowledge gaps and challenges.

About the College

The ACIPC is the peak body for Infection Prevention and Control professionals in the Australasian region. Our stated vision is the prevention and control of infection in our communities. We commenced in January 2012 bringing together the various State and Territory infection control associations formerly in AICA (The Australian Infection Control Association) to support and encourage collaboration across Australasia.
