Drawing on an emerging body of evidence from implementation science, this presentation will outline one of the most popular implementation frameworks in health care (the integrated Promoting Action in Research Implementation in Health Services or i-PARIHS framework).

A number of questions will be posed regarding how individuals and systems can more easily and readily embrace new, appropriate and effective ways of doing things.

It must be acknowledged that problems in embracing new knowledge are often not intellectual or logical; they are more to do with behaviour, attitudes and habits.

The core question therefore is how can we change these in a busy, complex health system?  A number of strategies are put forward.
